Private investigator licensing in Hong Kong

No. Hong Kong has no specific private investigator licence.

Hong Kong does not license private investigators. The Security and Guarding Services Ordinance licenses security companies and issues Security Personnel Permits for guarding and security-device work, and the 2000 amendment narrowed "security work" to guarding people or places so that investigation work by private investigators falls outside it. Investigators remain bound by general law, including the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.1
