Licence required

Private investigator licensing in Israel

Yes. Private investigators need a licence in Israel.

Israel licenses private investigators nationally through a seven-member licensing committee appointed by the Minister of Justice, and nobody may work as an investigator without its licence and only from a licensed investigation office. Applicants must be Israeli citizens and residents (or permanent residents), adults, have twelve years of schooling, have completed three years of supervised training in a licensed office within the previous six years, and pass exams in Israeli law and professional ethics. Running an investigation office needs a separate licence and five years' experience as a licensed investigator, and licences are renewed every year on payment of the annual fee.2
