Licence required

Private investigator licensing in Guinea

Yes. Private investigators need a licence in Guinea.

Guinea licenses private investigation as one of seven private security activities: Decree D/2023/0165 defines 'investigation' as making inquiries, tracing people and collecting information on the character and conduct of others on a private basis (Art. 2(b)). Firms need an operating authorisation (agrément) for that category from the regulator ORASPC (Art. 10), and every individual doing the work needs a private security agent card for the category, issued by ORASPC only on proof of training from a private security training school (Arts 18-20). Investigators may not monitor political, religious or trade-union opinions or keep files for that purpose (Art. 7), and only cash-in-transit staff may be armed (Art. 12).1
