Private investigator licensing in Mauritania
No. Mauritania has no specific private investigator licence.
Mauritania has no law that licenses private investigators or investigation agencies. Law No. 2009-025 requires prior authorisation from the Minister of the Interior only for guarding and surveillance firms and cash-in-transit firms (Arts 1, 2 and 4), and those firms may not provide any service unrelated to security or transport (Art. 3). The government's legal database (Secrétariat général du Gouvernement) lists no text on private detectives, so investigation is run as an ordinary business, subject to general criminal and privacy law.1
