Private investigator licensing in Pakistan
No. Pakistan has no specific private investigator licence.
Pakistan has no national or provincial law that licenses private investigators or detective agencies, as far as could be found. The private security ordinances license companies that provide 'security guards or security arrangements for the protection of persons or property' (ICT Ordinance 2001, s. 2(c), 2(f) and s. 5; KP Ordinance 2002, s. 2 and s. 5); they do not mention investigation. Investigation work is therefore not separately licensed, though privacy, data and criminal law still apply. A firm that also supplies guards needs a provincial or Islamabad security company licence.2
