Private investigator licensing in Thailand
No. Thailand has no specific private investigator licence.
Thailand has no law that licenses private investigators or detective agencies. The Security Business Act B.E. 2558 licenses only businesses that supply licensed security guards to protect people's lives, bodies or property for payment (s. 3); such a business must be a Thai-majority company licensed by the police registrar (ss. 16-17), and guards must be Thai nationals aged at least 18 (s. 34). Investigation is not within that definition, so it runs as an ordinary business, though privacy, data protection and criminal law still apply.1
