Private investigator licensing in Georgia
No. Georgia has no specific private investigator licence.
Georgia has no law licensing private detectives or investigation agencies. The Law on Licences and Permits lists every licensed activity and includes a licence for private security services (Art. 6(85)) but nothing for detective work, and the Law on Private Security Activities covers only the protection of people and property; security guards may not carry out operational search and investigative actions banned by law (Art. 16(c)). Investigation therefore runs as an ordinary business, limited by privacy, personal data and criminal law.1
