Private investigator licensing in Nauru
No. Nauru has no specific private investigator licence.
Nauru does not license private investigators. The Private Security Act 2012 requires a security licence from a Licensing Authority appointed by Cabinet for anyone who, as a business or job, acts as a security officer (guarding, patrolling or watching property), bodyguard or crowd controller, or supplies such people as a security firm (ss. 5-9, 24); investigation is not among these activities. Security licences last 12 months and applicants must be adults of suitable character and finances (ss. 13-14, 18). The 2025 amendment only adds a power to restore cancelled licences (s. 22A), so investigation on its own runs as an ordinary business.1
