Private investigator licensing in Samoa
No. Samoa has no specific private investigator licence.
Samoa has no law that licenses private investigators or private security firms. A title and full-text check of the 2020 Consolidation of the Laws of Samoa on PacLII (267 Acts, current to 31 December 2020) and a title check of the sessional Acts found no Act on investigators, detectives, inquiry agents or security services; the only matches were aviation security provisions and a services classification. Investigation would therefore be run as an ordinary business needing the general business licence under the Business Licences Act 1998, subject to the general criminal and privacy-related law. Nothing found shows whether newer sessional Acts after 2020 change this.1
